What is the Works Council and why should you participate? Q&A

The Works Council (Dutch: 'Ondernemingsraad' or 'OR') is an official organ within TNO which duty it is to represent us as employees towards TNO.

If a proposal for a large decision or change is made by TNO that will impact employees, the Works Council can (in some cases) give advice, debate the proposal or put the proposal up for a vote. The most recent example is the 'Arbeidsvoorwaarden' vote at the end of last year.

The Works Council is elected by us as employees.

This year there will be new Works Council elections. The deadline to put yourself forward for the Works Council is the 29th of January. But what is the Works Council? What do the members do and what does the work encompass?

Jong TNO wonders... ;-) and thus we have asked Sander, Bart and Paco (all three young employees and Jong TNO'ers) who are part of the Works Council, to have a 'Q&A': they will tell us from their own experience about their Works Council work after which you can ask questions.
