Jong TNO is an independent organization for young people working at TNO. It was officially founded in 1995 and has since helped young professionals to build a network both inside and outside TNO. The mission of Jong TNO is to stimulate cooperation and new initiatives and to support personal development and the job satisfaction of its members.
In addition, we have a Cash Audit Committee that regularly checks our finances and gives advice at the General Members Meeting. Several of our event-driven committees are also worth mentioning (though note that we have more, varying per year): the International Trip Committee, the Ski/Snowboard Trip Committee, and the Gala Committee.
As you might surmise from this, Jong TNO is driven by its members. They can always contact the board or one of the committees to provide input, ask questions, and formally vote during our annual General Members Meeting held in January or February. During our annual Thank You Activity we show our gratitude to the members who have organized something in the year prior.
Jong TNOers help out with Jong TNO through intrinsic motivation and in their own time. With 60+ events per year, this is arguably TNO's most cost-effective investment in employee happiness. We represent between 22 and 26% of all TNO employees, yet we do not discriminate by age: you don't have to be young to become a member.
Because of our interdepartmental reach, we connect a large part of TNO that would usually not find each other. We are formally independent of TNO, yet we effectively voice the concerns of our members using our close connections with TNO's Board of Directors, HR, the Works Council, and other relevant entities within TNO. This reach also extends outside of TNO via our networking events and partner organisations.
